Meet the Team: Twisha Gupta

This month's edition of Meet the Team features recently promoted Senior Consultant, Twisha Gupta answering questions on her career to date, aspirations for the future and experience of her time at Accelar.

Tell us about your career so far, how did it lead you to where you are today?

My career so far has been shaped by a growing interest in the intersection of sustainability, finance and impact. Before joining Accelar, I built a strong foundation in sustainability, climate impact strategies and financial modelling through a combination of academic study and professional experience. During my MSc in Management at Warwick Business School, I explored sustainable finance, purpose-driven strategy and the role of business in environmental transformation. My interest deepened through the opportunity to discuss sustainable finance during a study trip to Solvay Brussels School in Belgium, as well as participating in a Responsible Leader Certification focused on creating environmentally sustainable businesses. This academic grounding, combined with hands-on analytical and consulting work, helped me realise just how powerful well-designed financial structures can be in accelerating the green transition. What ultimately brought me to Accelar was a desire to work at the heart of nature-positive innovation. I wanted to be part of an organisation that doesn’t just advocate for sustainability, but actively builds the financial and strategic pathways to make it achievable - and that’s exactly what I found here.

What does your role at Accelar involve and what do you find most rewarding about it?

As a Sustainability Consultant , and now a Senior Consultant, my role spans financial modelling, nature finance strategy and business modelling. I work on building end-to-end business cases for our clients, including revenues, costs, and funding sources, translating complex sustainability ambitions into clear, investable propositions grounded in evidence, modelling and strategic insight.

What I find most rewarding is seeing how our work creates a real impact on the ground. Whether I’m quantifying nature-based outcomes, modelling the viability of restoration projects, or shaping investment strategies, the work sits at the junction of science, finance and human values.

Some of the richest experiences have ranged from sitting in a farmer’s kitchen learning about their hopes for land recovery, to walking into boardrooms to discuss landscape-scale finance, very different settings but rooted in the same desire to restore ecosystems. These moments highlight the human side of our work and remind me that what we do sits at the crossroads of people, place and purpose.

What do you value most about being part of the Accelar team?

What I value most about being part of Accelar is how genuinely purpose-driven and collaborative the team is. Everyone brings deep expertise from green finance and natural capital to ESG strategy, but what really stands out is the shared ambition to accelerate sustainable change.

There’s a strong culture of curiosity, learning and mutual support. I especially appreciate how the environment encourages creativity. Whether we’re designing financial models, exploring digital tools, or developing nature-positive solutions, there’s always space for fresh thinking and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Equally important is the trust within the team. Growth is celebrated, experimentation is encouraged and people are empowered to stretch their capabilities - something I’ve felt consistently throughout my journey at Accelar.

So far, which moments or achievements stand out as highlights of your time at Accelar?

A few moments really stand out for me:

  • Completing the CISL Sustainable Finance course, which broadened my understanding of blended finance and nature markets, and strengthened the analytical side of my consulting work.

  • Hearing from the public sector that a financial model I developed was “the most detailed model they’ve ever seen” - feedback that reinforced the value of bringing financial precision into nature and climate projects.

  • Being told by clients, “As long as you’re in the meeting, it works fine.”  That level of trust is incredibly motivating and reflects the strong relationships we build.

  • My recent promotion to Senior Consultant, which felt like a meaningful recognition of the responsibility I’ve taken on and the growth and impact I’ve achieved.

  • Even at an early stage in my journey with Accelar, I’ve been trusted to represent Accelar and that confidence and support has been a real highlight for me.

Where would you love to see Accelar heading in the future?

I’d love to see Accelar continue leading the way in innovative blended finance mechanisms that unlock new capital for nature recovery and climate resilience. One key ambition I have is to help position nature as an asset class - one that is investable, credible and backed by robust modelling, clear risk frameworks and demonstrable impact.

I also see huge potential in deepening collaboration with government, corporates and impact investors to develop the transition pathways that are urgently needed across landscapes and communities. Accelar is uniquely positioned to connect policy, investment, science and on-the-ground delivery, and I hope we continue expanding that systems-level influence.

Ultimately, I see Accelar helping to shape a future where sustainability is not an optional feature, but a financially compelling and strategically essential part of every organisation's decision-making.
