Sustainability starts with us
Why is sustainability important to Accelar?
As a consultancy passionate about preserving and enhancing our planet, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.
Across our areas of expertise, we’re leading by example. This means monitoring our impacts, reducing our emissions, and putting our environmental plans into action.
So what does this look like?
Accelar is a signatory of the Pledge to Net Zero, a global commitment to science-based objectives ensuring the UK meets its 2050 net-zero carbon target.
Here’s our carbon dashboard for 2023. We decided to use 2022 as our baseline year, due to the newly formed business being disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic in previous years. As the business continues to grow, we expect our emissions to increase, but we are consistently working to reduce our emission concentration per team member. We have also set a cap for our emissions in 2030, and will continue to work on reducing these emissions to reach net zero by 2050.
We update this dashboard annually, and the next update will be in January 2025.
How are we making a difference?
We’re actively minimising our impact on the planet, and helping other businesses do the same.
Here’s what we’re proudest of so far:
We were selected as a CO₂nstruct Zero Business Champion at the beginning of November 2021
In this role, Accelar works alongside the Construction Leadership Council and the built environment industry to share innovations and best practices, and act as a promoter and role model in support of the industry’s move to net-zero carbon.
We’ve joined the Get Nature Positive initiative
Through this, we can continually improve our impact on the natural environment. We want to inspire change and help coordinate action, and pinpoint the financial and environmental benefits of nature-positive projects.
We have a company-wide approach of using Ecosia as our default search engine
Ecosia is a not-for-profit, transparent and carbon-negative organisation that invests the money it makes from our searches into tree-planting schemes and renewable energy projects around the world.
We’re members of Forest Carbon’s Carbon Club
Through this, we’ve supported the planting of 40 new UK trees in 2023. The scheme is certified by the Woodland Carbon Code.
We can honestly say every project we’ve worked on has had a positive outcome in support of the green transition. This ethos is embedded in our DNA.
We’ve also made our carbon tracking more accurate, redefining how we collect data and updating our carbon action plan.
