RICS QS & Construction Conference 2022 to debate path to net zero

Accelar’s Co-founder and Managing Director, Chris Fry, will be part of the sustainability panel at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors QS and Construction Conference taking place on 12th July in London. Chris will join Simon Sturgis (Founder of Targeting Zero LLP) and James Fiske (Global Director of Data and Information Products at RICS) to discuss the path to net zero for the UK construction sector - including how carbon measurement standards, data and benchmarking can help to unlock carbon reductions.

Chris is an advocate for construction processes that promote a whole-life approach to managing and reducing carbon emissions. As such, he was a technical author for the incorporation of carbon into the international cost management standard ICMS 3 and has been leading Accelar’s work on carbon and environmental benchmarking for transport infrastructure projects in the TIES Living Lab. As Chris puts it:

“Construction now needs to significantly accelerate in the race to net zero. With whole life carbon as the touchstone, projects can unlock a myriad of improvements through highly collaborative and digitally-enabled approaches.”

Lately, Chris has also overseen the development of Accelar’s own Nature Finance Impact Hub, which launched last year to help to pinpoint the environmental and financial benefits of nature-positive projects. Green finance provides a major global investment opportunity and will also play a key role in the built environment sector’s journey towards net zero, nature-positive, infrastructure and development.
